Ribbit Rogue Build Guide

Three honest archetypes you can finish without a wiki open.

Builds

A Ribbit Rogue build is not a 30-card spreadsheet. It is a sentence: this pool does one thing, and the relics pay that thing extra. If you cannot say the sentence at the first campsite, you do not have a build. You have ten souvenirs. This page names three sentences that work on Steam 1.0, then tells you when to abandon them. Pair with the dice and relic lists, and with forging so the sentence survives the anvil.

1. Twin engine

Sentence: Twin copies a fat number, Quick or Slow lines up the copy, rerolls protect the blanks.

Dice: Any cube that already rolls Twin. Boss Twin Die if you won the first exam. Rapier or Claymore faces swapped onto that cube. Cut random pokes.

Relics: Pocket Watch, Empty Hourglass, Spare Pouch, Floppy Disk. Fine Cutlery if the Twin face is the one that gets kills.

How it dies: You Twin a heal into full HP, or you never spend Twin last/first as the keyword wants. Practice order on combat before you greed a second Twin die.

Who it likes: The wizard-hatted frog with extra rerolls in screenshots. Extra rerolls mean extra chances to hit the Twin face.

2. Blank payoff

Sentence: Blanks are a resource. Spirit Jar and Blank Die print AoE while the rest of the pool blocks.

Dice: Cursed Ring (keep some slashes), Blank Die, one clean shield, one clean kill. Do not exile every blank — you need two per turn for Spirit Jar’s 4-to-all.

Relics: Spirit Jar first. Blacksmith Hammer only to move blanks onto one cube, not to delete them. Crit capsules are optional; AoE does not need a crit to feel good.

How it dies: You “clean up” the pool at a late forge and Spirit Jar falls off. Or you take this build into a single-target golem without a real kill die.

Who it likes: Anyone who opened a cursed shop. Herc is not a trap if this is the plan.

3. Shield-crit tank

Sentence: Crits double shields and heals. Stack Crit tokens, roll block, and let the enemy fail the math.

Dice: Kite shield, buckler, Cursed Ring’s 18 block after a swap, a modest kill die for when the enemy is done whiffing.

Relics: Crit capsules from the gumball. Medkit. Skull. Pocket Watch if Slow block is a face you can spend last. Pill is acceptable on the Hero because post-battle heals repay the 1 HP tax.

How it dies: You never find crit chance and you are just a slow frog. Or you forget that a 17 telegraph still needs a number, not a vibe.

Who it likes: The Hero, whose between-fight heal covers the turns you spent blocking. The armored frog also fits if 60 HP is the life total you saw in art — more reason to double shields.

How to lock an identity by node 8

  1. After three fights, name the job that showed up twice (Twin, blanks, block).
  2. Take the relic that multiplies that job, even if the other card looks rarer.
  3. Forge toward that job only. Do not “keep options open.” Options are blanks with extra steps.
  4. At the first shop, buy the missing job, not a fourth copy of the identity.
  5. Enter the boss able to say the sentence out loud.

If nothing showed up twice, you do not have a build yet. Play more fights. Do not force Twin Engine because this page listed it first.

What is not a build

  • Five-star Claymore plus guitar plus shuriken plus robes with no forge plan.
  • Three insurance relics and no kill face.
  • “Whatever Herc had.”
  • A Depth climb on a pool that could not finish base difficulty.

Swamp Depth versions

Same three sentences. Tighter gold. You skip more chests. You buy fewer souvenirs. Shield-crit becomes more attractive because telegraphs hurt. Twin engine needs Floppy Disk more because long fights punish Amulet’s later-turn tax. Blank payoff needs a real kill die because bosses will not die to 4 AoE alone.

When a patch adds a named fourth engine — and it will, with 120 relics — slot it here only if it can be said in one sentence. Until then, pick one of these three, open the run planner, and stop shopping for a personality mid-elite. The swamp already has a personality. Yours needs to be smaller.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the best Ribbit Rogue build?

The one that matches the first strong relic you found. Twin engine, blank payoff, and shield-crit are all complete 1.0 plans.

Can I mix two archetypes?

Lightly. Twin plus shield-crit works if Pocket Watch is in the row. Twin plus blanks usually fights itself for forge points.

When should I abandon a build?

When you take a relic that contradicts the sentence — deleting blanks after Spirit Jar, or taking Cracked Sword on a tank that needed the first turn to block.

Do characters have unique builds?

They have unique starting relics and some unique dice. Start on the Hero, then adapt using the characters hub.
