Quick start

A short path from your first roll to a finished Steam run.

  1. 1

    Learn the turn loop

Every turn you draw seven dice from a ten-die pool and choose four to roll. Inspect enemy intents first, then spend rerolls on blank sides. The combat guide covers Quick, Slow, Twin, and the all-purpose crit.

  2. 2

    Protect the ten slots

New dice only enter if you cut something else. Keep one defensive die and one heal or shield until the first boss. Use the dice tier list before you throw away a weird side that forges well.

  3. 3

    Forge before you greed

The forge can swap sides between two dice or spend three upgrade points on one die. Merging a duplicate also upgrades sides, each up to three times. Follow forging so your pool stops rolling blanks.

  4. 4

    Route the swamp on purpose

Some path splits roll three dice: eleven or higher takes the top option. Visit forges, shops, and fishing holes before elite fights. The map and events guide explains when to bank gold.

  5. 5

Prep the bosses, then raise Depth

Steam 1.0 has two main areas, six bosses, and Swamp Depth modifiers that buff enemies and tax gold. Read bosses and the run planner before you climb.
